The London Regional Resilience Forum is a local ‘mega community‘ that brings together relevant stakeholders and decision makers from different sectors in the London Area in order to achieve a more effective and synchronized regime of disaster preparedness.
This problem solving oriented platform consists of nine round tables each of which brings together stakeholders from different fields, and are characterized by particular aspects of preparedness: Business, Volunteering, Utilities, Faith, Transport, Health, Local Authorities and Communications.
This model for achieving organizational and community resilience rests on the principles of partnership and cooperation. Therefore, its efficacy depends on a shared vision and interests for community prosperity and preparedness between the various stakeholders.
The Reut Institute recently outlined a similar conceptual framework to re-organize the home front’s strategy of preparedness: This framework focuses on the idea of embedding a “Culture of Preparedness” among citizens and state employees to enhance their ability to cope with national emergencies.
