In a document that describes the principles and guidelines for achieving an economic and social leapfrog in Israel, the Reut Institute claims that decision makers in the public sphere should establish rules of conduct that will reflect values that may promote leapfrogging, such as business ethics and social awareness.
The lack of standardization and legislation of those values often obstructs business or social initiatives.
This is connected to a recent report in Globes about Maala and its annual ‘ranking.’ The organization – which advocates corporate values and citizenship in Israel – claims that it has to cope with the lack of standardization and legislation in establishing an ethics code in public companies.

Interesting post. I wonder whether companies don’t use CSR as window-dressing…when it is convenient for them. Hence I think the movement should not be a substitute for government regulation. I write about this at: thhttp://euandus3.wordpress.com/2009/10/25/corporate-social-responsibility/
Thaks for the response
Businesses won’t change their priorities, yet if they see social environmental responsibilty as an economic advantage it’s a win win situation.
