Last week the Reut Institute held its first annual ISRAEL 15 Study Visit. The aim of the Study Visit was to educate our overseas guests about Israel’s vision for social and economic development and about the challenges facing its implementation.
Over the course of two days, we visited Beer Sheva and the Negev, the Beit-Shemesh and Mateh Yehuda region, and the cities of Modiin and Modiin Ilit. The Study Visit was a ‘hands-on’ experience, focusing on four major themes:
• Building knowledge – Israel represents one of the most amazing development stories of modern history. Over the course of two days, we met the people who have been shaping our society and economy in order to explore whether and how Israel can leap again.
• Meeting the people – There are many visionaries, including business people, philanthropists and social entrepreneurs, who are already dedicated to projects that promote the ISRAEL 15 Vision. During the Study Visit, we met the people who are creating a reality of a better Israel through their inspiration and leadership
• Visiting the sites – Some areas in Israel already embody and manifest the characteristics that are required for fulfilling the ISRAEL 15 Vision. Other areas represent the profound challenges. We visited these sites in order to get a first hand impression of what it is necessary to leapfrog.
• Strategizing – There are many ways to serve the ISRAEL 15 Vision. A part of the study visit was dedicated to helping participants identify their own ways for becoming a part of the ISRAEL 15 community.
