For the first time in 25 years, the Government, unions and employees last week signed a ‘package deal’ as part of the 2009-2010 budget. The deal’s significance lies in the cultural change it might instigate among the leading actors in Israel’s economy.
Such a change is necessary if Israel wants to advance reforms for fulfilling the ISRAEL 15 Vision. Speaking at the signing, President of the Manufacturers Association Shraga Brosh said that: “In all counties where the ‘partnership model’ was adopted, leapfrogging occurred. This platform should be embraced in order to deal with other crises Israel faces, especially its deterioration in relation to all major comparative indices.”
