The growing threat of Israel’s delegitimization continues to be increasingly evident on the radars of media and politicians in Israel, and has now surfaced in influential international media.
An October 20 New York Times article discussing the role of force in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict also brings to the forefront a related dynamic, in which the justification of Israel’s existence is, explicitly or implicitly, called into question.
Times correspondent Ethan Bronner contends the Goldstone Report demonstrates “that not only are the country’s tactics under assault but so is its very legitimacy as calls for boycott and criminal prosecution grow.” He addresses the Israeli perception that the country is subject to a harsh double standard, and quotes Maj. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot on “the two-part strategy of terror and delegitimization Israel’s enemies are pursuing.
Together, these threats represent a dynamic in which terror is encouraged, while Israel operates from a weakened position to confronting it in both diplomatic and military arenas.

As a Jew and old fashion Zionist, I see every day slow but steady of Israel’s decline into parochial theocracy not much different from other countries in Middle East. This will destroy the country because most of the modern 21st Century Jews will try to disassociate from that concept. In my personal opinion the Israel should clean up the mess it did not finish in 1948 as per Benny Morris. Then to move republic into 21st Century secular republic and separating religion from any form of influence.
