A recent Globes interview with the Managing Director of the Kibbutz Industry Association, Mr. Amor Rabin, revealed the industry business strategies for the coming years.
In regards to the current economic crisis, Mr. Rabin expressed his support for the steps taken by the industry to traverse it. Cutting down wages and working hours, or dismissal of employees, are all examples of streamlining moves that he perceived as helpful.
On par with Reut’s Israel 15 Vision, Mr. Rabin emphasized the importance of innovation in creating a competitive edge in the age of globalization, both in terms of developing innovative technologies and practices, as well as implementing them in the national market.
In light of that, the Flexicurity approach, promoted by Reut, sees security in the labor market and the flexibility of companies as complimentary rather than colliding factors. The abovementioned streamlining moves, though beneficial for the companies’ needs, harm the employees and therefore need to be accompanied by extensive training policies that would cultivate Israel’s human capital to the global and national market’s demands. Accordingly, creating more skilled workers would decrease unemployment and provide companies with a labor force more apt to work with innovative and new technologies.
