Unique and global development policy is a policy that leverages local assets while exploiting global trends. Such a policy involves investment of governmental inputs, including – but not solely restricted to – financial investment. The government has a wide range of options at its disposal which include, among other things, standardization, licensing, legislation and international agreements. A great example of such conduct was recently provided by the Ministry of Justice.
Israel recently received EU approval for the high degree of privacy protection that the country provides its citizens. This success is to be credited to the Israeli Law, Information and Technology Authority that was established in the Ministry of Justice three years ago.
The approval will provide more opportunities for business collaborations with firms from the EU. Rather than just providing financial aid, this is an example of how a government can help the private sector by adapting the structure of its ministries to the changing reality and implement relevant and creative strategy.
