Last week, Reut’s ‘Communities’ team attended the Communal Resilience conference at Seminar E’fal. The event was organized by the Social Services Department in Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, as well as by the Community Stress Prevention Center.

The much anticipated Turning Point 3 Home Front emergency exercise came to an end last week. As part of the drill, civilians were as asked to enter bomb shelters when air sirens were sounded nationwide.

The Manufacturers Association in the south of Israel recently announced its intention to open first aid training courses. Acquiring basic skills such as first aid is an important step in implementing a culture of preparedness and can contribute to Israel’s national resilience.

Last week, the Washington Post reported that President Obama intents to significantly increase the budget of AmeriCorps volunteering program. This move is mostly aimed at encouraging young Americans to contribute to their community against the background of the ongoing economic crisis.

This coming June, the National Emergency Agency plans to operate ‘Turning Point 3’ – a drill whose main purpose is to coordinate the military and civilian systems due to operate in times of crisis.
