Globes recently reported that following a meeting between Israeli and Palestinian representatives, the Palestinians demanded an independent postal service. Israel should consider taking advantage of this suggestion as part of upgrading the status of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and anchoring the principle of separation between the two peoples.

The New York Times and Ha’aretz both report on the Palestine Strategy Group which recently published a 52 page report which calls for the Palestinians to regain the ’strategic initiative’ against Israel. Its main conclusion is that the Palestinians should reconsider its support for the two state solution.

Writing in the Washington Institute, Mohammad Yaghi describes the financial crisis gripping the Fayyad led Palestinian Authority (PA) warning that unless certain moves are taken the PA is in danger of collapse, an event that would have huge strategic significance for Israel.

Avi Issacharoff in Ha’aretz: 4/4/08 reports an interview with Zakariya Zubedia in which he warns against Abu Mazen’s All or Nothing Approach’ and states that without a Permanet Status Agreement the Palestinian Authority will collapse. This reinforces the need for Israel to upgrade the PA.
