Yesterday Reut’s Socio-Economic team traveled to Akko for a second meeting regarding the ISRAEL 15 regional project, an initiative which was launched a few months ago. The process is guided by Praxis and funded by the UJC’s Partnership 2000 and can serve as a model for Socio-Economic leapfrogging.

An article published in Haaretz yesterday discussed the government’s inability to execute decisions based on plans written by experts; (such as the Dovrat reform for the education system.) This phenomenon also occurs in strategic planning.

In a Ha’aretz interview Michael Spence, the 2001 Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics, discussed Reut’s paper on Principles and Guidelines for Achieving a Socioeconomic leapfrog. This week Reut hosted the annual ISRAEL 15 Conference. Some 600 leaders in the social and economic arena gathered to examine ways to fulfill the vision of turning Israel into one of the leading countries in terms of quality of life.

The Reut Institute has recently uploaded a report analyzing the resilience of different countries in light of the economic crisis (Stress Test). Ranking first are Denmark, Singapore and Qatar. Israel is ranked 20th.
